Slow day

Loads of models are on the bench today, ready for pinning and gluing.
Then a swift undercoat and we are good to go.
I am partaking in the PP tale of painters and upto now am managing to paint around 35 points a month (required is 5).
I have finished off an Avatar and hoping to do a few Cygnar jacks as well as a couple of menoth units I am dying to try out.
All this has been funded by me buying and splitting the 2 player boxset.
For an outlay of £120 I have £200 in return plus nearly half the models left.
Shame waugh games couldn't deliver fast enough as I was on a bit of an earner there.
Ah, well their loss, if they don't want a guaranteed £120 every week, no skin off of my nose :)
I was hoping to get the stuff trade, but it is like getting rocking horse shit.

Anyway off to do some testing.

I am shite at warmachine :)

Went to a new LGS yesterday.
The Outpost on furnival gate.

Looks ok, but very poor advertising and comms this early in a shops life does not bode well.
We did however get a £5 voucher and Eva bought herself a Cygnar Firefly that she has been wanting for weeks.
But the staff (and there were loads of them) ignored her and focused on me, even though she was the one with the cash, making the purchase.
Now in this day and age, after years of this hobby being populated by smelly teenage boys/men, you would think the staff would try to embrace a bit of female interest, but no, even though some of them were female (I think)!
They also failed to mention their small warmachine tourney this afternoon. Instead thinking it better to give 12 hours notice via facebook??? WTF.

So we decided to play here and practice (I am not ready for tourneys, let alone her).
Eva took pHaley, firefly, thorn and a sentinel for 12 pts (what the tourney was pointed at) and I took pKreoss, a crusader and after having much success with the avatar over the past few weeks, one of those.

Now the avatar works great at 25pts+ but below that he seems to be a bit of a points drain. It never did anything of any use and after 3 turns firefly had electrocuted kreoss to a crisp followed up by a deft charge and haley charged in to finish the job.
She just needs to read up on what her stuff can do and I think a future warmachine champion is in the making :)

I am shite at blogging!

Well almost 12 months since my last post.

A quick catchup.
Started going back to the GIMPS on a Thursday, warmaster fever has subsided for now and my mate Gaz has decided we should play Warmachine, so 3 factions and about 2.5k later we are well into it.

Main problem with going to a gaming club is the exposure to new games that tempt you to play.
In the 9 months I have been going, I have bought nearly every plane for Wings of War, loads of warmachine and hordes stuff as well as playing a fair bit of mordheim.

Off now to paint me an avatar :)
Hopefully type sooner rather than later.

Grinding to a halt :(

Well long time no post.
The albion horsemen are still only half finished.
I have been distracted by boardgames in the past few months.
Also been playing a bit of epic.

Now looking to get an Araby army but need to sell my high elves and empire surpluses to fund it!

So if you are in the market for around 1000 points (around 12 units) of empire or high elf forces for £60 each drop me a mail.
I will of course do a discount for a bulk purchase (there are 6000 points in total).

Hopefully post sooner rather than later.

Painter's block

Having painted 1000's of points worth of armies for commissions I have completely burnt out.
I cannot face the 8 units of albion warriors on my bench :(
That said I am seriously back into nerf with our arsenal now totalling 13 guns.
So hopefully have an update on the painting one day soon :)
Just have a 2k high elf and a 3k empire army to shift now :)

Playing another round of castle ravenloft tonight though.

More commission work

Well long time between posts again.
But this is due to the fact that the bloke who bought the 4k chaos force then went on to buy another 2k of chaos followed by 3.5k of high elves.
Pics can be seen here http://www.sg.tacticalwargames.net/forum/index.php?topic=190.75

So continuing on this thread, I have bought a 3k empire army and 2k of high elves.
With a view to sell on as is or paint up if their is interest.
Hopefully this will pay for my araby army.
I will be using it for both the araby list and the 2 fan lists.

Currently I have just painted up the remaining heroes for the Albion force, that leaves 8 units of warriors and 8 units of cavalry.
But the exersions of the past few weeks have caused me to slow down a bit.

So if anyone wants any of the afore mentioned armies drop me a mail and we shall try to come to a deal.

Now off to sort out what I need for my Araby force.

Definition of a 'PRO' painter

Another long gap between posts.
But I have been busy.
I am half way through my Albion army and then I got distracted by a piece of commission work doing some warmaster wound counters.
This work absolutely revitalised my enthusiasm for the hobby side of warmaster.
I was well paid (in rare alt units) and the customer was happy with what I had done.
So I sold on half of what I had been 'paid' and with the proceeds bought a 4000 point chaos army.

As regular readers will atest, I already have an obscenely large chaos force so this was for sale only.
The army arrived, not quite as described, but still a very good price.
I got on with painting it and the entire 4000 points was done in 2 weeks :)
I split them 50/50 nurgle and khorne and advertised them on forums rather than eBay, as I find it good for buying and not so good for selling :(
Within a few hours both armies had gone to the same buyer for a very handsome profit, so down to the title of this post:
At what point does someone consider themselves a pro painter?
I don't, even though people ask me to paint for them and I sell armies specifically painted for that purpose, yet I see items regularly described as 'pro-painted' on eBay just becaus e the bloke selling them has sold a painted model on eBay!

Anyway, work is getting hectic so my evenings will be taken up more and more.
I have just knocked up 4 units of pegasus knights and 2 kings on a hippogriff for the bretonnian army I am doing next and there is the last half of the Albion army to do.

I am also working with Draxion on a new Amazon list and he is going hell for leather painting up his amazons, a new norse army and even mentions of a nippon or ogre kingdoms force WTF!

I am also trying to touch up my existing armies as well as painting a new 2000 point chaos army (possibly slaanesh) with a view to funding a new Araby army to cover the official list and the 2 trail/fan lists :)

Anyway, happy painting.
