Two in one month ;)

Yep. that's right 2 posts in one month. Just took my new/old bike out for it's inaugural spin. It is the same spec as my beautiful Quake 9 but with a different (less noise prone non monocoque frame) My quake cost £2k+ back in the day, yet this beauty only set me back £200 and is in mint condition. Got it a few weeks back and I stripped it completely down and rebuilt it. It rode great and is a lovely bike, just need to get the old girl's knee sorted and we are in for a great year for biking :) Laters.

And so it's time to say goodbye :(

Not form blogging (although, who would notice :)), but I have been toying with leaving the warmaster community for a while. There are some good blokes over there but it is more a collectors forum now where people haggle for 'rare' units rather than one where the game is discussed and progressed. So with that in mind I am putting away the little fellows and who knows if they will reappear, I know I won't be frequenting the forum any time soon :( On the WM\H front, Wilko's journeyman league is going great guns. I made a boo-boo and painted up most of my legion stuff prior to the start so I have missed out on a few points and since I am being sensible, I doubt I will be buying anything else for the faction. The 2 casters I have are very good,as are the units and beasts I have plumped for, so I can't see the point in muddying the waters by buying absolutely everything for the faction... cough cygnar, menoth, skorne cough... The good lady has decided to buy me some lovely cases to store the newly painted stuff and I have also decided to start a little mercs band with pMagnus at the front. Also been painting a lot of skorne. I have only played 3 games with them in 12 month's but it would appear that I am close to owning all the models for the faction. I did take them for a run out on Thursday and even though my plan failed utterly (pHexeris channelled obliteration via worm, heavy damages turn 1) I did table Gaz. I just love the feel and aggressive nature of the faction and now I sort of have the fury mechanic down, I find they play a lot smoother. Taking a leaf out of the legion approach though, I am now looking at just getting the models that interest me that way I will hopefully not need a new house to store them all in ;) I will try to post more regularly ;) Laters.

Illness and the loneliness of the airbrush amateur

So September sees me hospitalised with my mysterious GI tract infection, nice :( It has put the brakes on my projects, but I have managed to pick up my airbrush and start painting my legion of everblight boxset. Now other factions I have just bought EVERYTHING and most of it never sees the light of day, so with legion I thought I would be smart. I like pThagrosh and pLylyth comes in the box so I will run those two casters. Then I have magnetized 3 dragonspawn kits for my heavies and will be be getting Typhon. Next up 8 shredders, a max unit of grotesques, 2 max units of warspears, a forsaken, 2 sheperds, a max spawning vessel, 1 raek and a spell martyr is what my force looks like. Now I am not sayin I won't get more stuff, but only things the force needs to bolster it and not just generic units I pick up 'cheap'. I painted up the spawn with the airbrush and they don't look too bad for a first go and the whole process is definitely quicker. The paint also seems to adhere better so good bye to shitty army painter, might even strip the ones I have undercoated just to be on the safe side and the fact that the airbrush struggles to adhere to the finish. Anyway got to go, selling my warmaster kislev force to fund buying a new porsche, sorry ;) new projects which include the new x wing game :) Laters

GW buys me an Airbrush

Dark Vengeance is here and my LFGS was selling the LE version for £52 so I bought 3 :) Now I haven't played 40k in decades and while I love the fluff the game is shite. So I have no intention of keeping any of it. All bound for eBay, if it fetches my modest target I should have a nice shiny airbrush and compressor this time next week ;) I was tempted to keep the termis for space hulk, but since I haven't played it in 2 years I might as well cash in :) No painting really this month due to holidays, but hoping to pick up next month in time for me starting legion and circles armies :) Keep safe and keep gaming.

Raspberry, Foam and Cthulhu

Well it's been really busy round these parts. First off with my warmahordes painting, managed to paint 1 colossal, 2 battle engines a couple of solos and 4 skorne titans and there is still a week to go until August :) Also my KR foam arrived and all my armies are now very well protected. That said there website is shite and I had to call them to sort it out, that and them not providing a discount (a whopping 10%, I can get 20% off of a secondary retailer) until I had bought 10 cases (£220) :(. Great product but lack lustre customer relations. Then the RaspberryPi turned up, this reminded me of being a 10 year old boy when I opened my ZX81 and tried to get it to work, oh those happy days of trying to explain how cool it was to my 'family' only for them to stare blankly. A bit of fiddling and there she sat chugging away in glorious 50" HD. Looking to use it for teaching the girls coding and controlling the lego stuff I have. A couple of the guys down at 'GIMPS' mooted the idea of a Call of Cthulhu RPG night. Now I ain't played any RPGs since 1991 when my character in Cyberpunk 2020 choked on his own vomit in a lift ;) So Gav provided the accommodation and Col provided the GM skills. I was a bit rusty, but we soon got up to speed and had an absolutely great night. Can't wait for the next session. Anyway off to paint Nemo3, Laters.

Colossals are coming

Another long hiatus between posts. Been painting loads of warmahordes stuff averaging around 30 points a month. Pictures can be seen here http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?91037-A-Tale-of-Warmahordes-2012-Directory under azrael71. Also just bought a battle engine for each of my 3 factions (menoth, cygnar and skorne) along with a cygnar colossal so looks like I am busy so until Christmas ;) Also still toying with selling off some of my ultra rare warmaster stuff. I love the game, but have played it once this year and haven't painted any in over a year. The prices these pieces go for can significantly fund any serious meth habit WTF ;) Any way catch you later.

And the gluing goes on

Another few models glued together.
Bought a shit load this month, so going to get them glued together and then I don't need to buy anything, but essentials for a while :)
Might be ready to start painting again next week.

Also went down to a very small yet friendly club in rotherham last night.
They play from 7pm on a Tuesday at the bridge inn. They play all sorts of stuff and are a very friendly bunch, I will be popping down from time to time.

Any way back to the superglue.

Monday 16 April 2012

I got records on my fingers and I just can't stop!

Ill all last week so no posts :(
This week is a frenetic week of catching up with work.
That and I decided to assemble all my recently bought warmahordes stuff ???
So after 5 vengers, 6 jacks, hordes of infantry 2 titans (don't fit together), a shit load of superglue, GS and drill bits, I thought I had finished, only for another 12 packs to arrive today :)

The PP models are beautiful, but some of there kit choices (seperate hands) is taking the piss a bit :P and please don't get me ranting on about those titans.
Migth slow down with it a bit now and focus on painting in preparation to getting a few battle engines and the colossals when they are launched.

Also looking to have a look at a new club in Rotherham on a Tuesday, less distance to travel, so will see.

Tuesday 3 April 2012

Slow day

Loads of models are on the bench today, ready for pinning and gluing.
Then a swift undercoat and we are good to go.
I am partaking in the PP tale of painters and upto now am managing to paint around 35 points a month (required is 5).
I have finished off an Avatar and hoping to do a few Cygnar jacks as well as a couple of menoth units I am dying to try out.
All this has been funded by me buying and splitting the 2 player boxset.
For an outlay of £120 I have £200 in return plus nearly half the models left.
Shame waugh games couldn't deliver fast enough as I was on a bit of an earner there.
Ah, well their loss, if they don't want a guaranteed £120 every week, no skin off of my nose :)
I was hoping to get the stuff trade, but it is like getting rocking horse shit.

Anyway off to do some testing.

Sunday 1 April 2012

I am shite at warmachine :)

Went to a new LGS yesterday.
The Outpost on furnival gate.

Looks ok, but very poor advertising and comms this early in a shops life does not bode well.
We did however get a £5 voucher and Eva bought herself a Cygnar Firefly that she has been wanting for weeks.
But the staff (and there were loads of them) ignored her and focused on me, even though she was the one with the cash, making the purchase.
Now in this day and age, after years of this hobby being populated by smelly teenage boys/men, you would think the staff would try to embrace a bit of female interest, but no, even though some of them were female (I think)!
They also failed to mention their small warmachine tourney this afternoon. Instead thinking it better to give 12 hours notice via facebook??? WTF.

So we decided to play here and practice (I am not ready for tourneys, let alone her).
Eva took pHaley, firefly, thorn and a sentinel for 12 pts (what the tourney was pointed at) and I took pKreoss, a crusader and after having much success with the avatar over the past few weeks, one of those.

Now the avatar works great at 25pts+ but below that he seems to be a bit of a points drain. It never did anything of any use and after 3 turns firefly had electrocuted kreoss to a crisp followed up by a deft charge and haley charged in to finish the job.
She just needs to read up on what her stuff can do and I think a future warmachine champion is in the making :)

Saturday 31 March 2012

I am shite at blogging!

Well almost 12 months since my last post.

A quick catchup.
Started going back to the GIMPS on a Thursday, warmaster fever has subsided for now and my mate Gaz has decided we should play Warmachine, so 3 factions and about 2.5k later we are well into it.

Main problem with going to a gaming club is the exposure to new games that tempt you to play.
In the 9 months I have been going, I have bought nearly every plane for Wings of War, loads of warmachine and hordes stuff as well as playing a fair bit of mordheim.

Off now to paint me an avatar :)
Hopefully type sooner rather than later.

:)
